Textiles / dyeing: When you use beetroot for example for dyeing, the colour over times becomes less. Hence, the colour is “fugitive”.
Beetroot does not work for colouring, it is fugitive. –> Mit Rote Beete kann man nicht gut färben, sie ist nicht lichtecht. –> Mit Rote Beete kann man nicht gut färben, sie blutet aus. (Je nach Zusammenhang ist die Bedeutung etwas anders.)
